In order to carry out its mission of collecting, preserving, and publishing the state's history, the Georgetown County Historical Society relies on the support of its members.

Membership in the Georgetown County Historical Society (GCHS) provides free access to the Museum.  Eight membership categories range from an individual membership at $25.00 per year to a benefactor membership at $2,5000 or more per year.  Each increasing level of membership affords the member access for museum visitors.  All members receive the GCHS newsletter, notice of meetings, special programs and events and a 10% discount in the Museum Gift Shop.  Membership numbers are ever increasing and have moved past the 300 mark.  The Board of Trustees is actively involved in efforts to recruit new members.

Our members are a very diverse group and come from all backgrounds and walks of life.  As would be expected, the largest percentage of members reside in Georgetown and Georgetown County (approximately 82%);  however, 6 % of our members are from out-of-state while the other 12% reside in the surrounding counties  in South Carolina. In addition to the over 300 paying members the Historical Society has issued slightly over thirty Honorary memberships.  

All that is required for membership is an interest in Georgetown County History.
